Visit of the Chappe du Plan de l'Ours telegraph

A stone's throw from the mills and the Vanoise National Park, to discover in its forest setting, the first historic telegraph station rehabilitated in Savoy. Between 1806 and 1814 it was one of the 33 posts linking Lyon to Turin.
200 m from the car and coach parking lot, it is accessible to people with reduced mobility.

The Moulins et Patrimoine association invites you to discover the site of the Chappe optical telegraph of the Plan de l'Ours.
Originally built in 1806, at the request of Napoleon I, it operated until 1814. Completely rehabilitated in 2010, this post was part of the telegraph line that linked Paris to Venice. Its mechanism allows the display of 92 different signals which, associated with a specific vocabulary, allow the sending of confidential messages.

During guided tours, you will learn to code and decode messages, as in 1806.
